Cabinetry

Main house
Entry hall closet:
Erio built shelves along the right hand side so that we could store wine in the closet.

Living room:
Update July 26, 2012: Because we've rearranged the furniture in the living room, we were not able to have both bookshelves and a console behind the sofa. We have decided to eliminate the bookshelves. And ultimately we eliminated the console as well.

Dining room:
We met with Alex August 27, 2012 to refine the design of the bookshelves so that he could begin shop drawings.
Alex finished installing the bookshelves in the dining room.
The painting of the bookshelves was complicated by the fact that the walls had already been painted. The space was elaborately draped with plastic to keep the Ten Gallon Hat paint from mixing with the Sea Glass.
The bookshelves were done by the time I arrived home from Cuba.
Finished and filled with my cookbook collection.

Guest bathroom:
Vanity, Ronbow, Devon, 31", Vintage Walnut, with solid doors (as opposed to glass) 032531-3-FO7and chrome metal feet 705006PC.
From Jason at General Plumbing Supply Co., American Canyon
Update: We ordered the vanity August 22, 2012.

Installed mid-December, along with the sink and faucet.
The walls were a little crooked so something had to be done. Erio devised a small wooden back splash, beautifully crafted, which was perfect.
Here it is all done.

My office:
Desk, shelves, cupboards, drawers. This is in process. We met with Alex August 27, 2012 to refine the design so that he could begin shop drawings.
Update December 18, 2012: Desk installed.
Update December 18, 2012: Cupboards to the right installed.
Caeserstone desk top installed. The uppers to the left of the desk also installed.
Caesarstone counter top installed. The uppers to the right of the desk also installed.
Desk being painted.
Cabinets to the right being painted.
Moved in.
Moved in.
Charging station. I designed this nifty charging station unit where you see the three knobs. There is one in my office and a smaller one in Katherine's.
It consists of three doors which each pull down. Each compartment has a four-plex electrical outlet in it, into which you can plug all your  devices for charging things.
The end of the wires come up through grommets drilled on the top of the station. Once you close the doors, you don't have to look at all the wires and you can store various other things inside. All you need to do to charge is plug in your device, as you can see with my iPad above, and leave it sitting on top of the station until it's charged
Laundry area:
Update January 16, 2013: Erio built the folding table and the shelves to house laundry detergent, my iron, and other essentials.

Closets:
Update July 16, 2012: Jon offered to help design the closets and see that they are built. We will finalize the designs once sheet rock is installed.
Update December 20-26, 2012: Work progressing on the closets. This one is my closet.
Painted.
All moved in.
The same process in Katherine's closet.
Painted.
All moved in.

Master bath:
Update July 6, 2012: The counter is now longer, thanks to taking out the linen cabinet to the left of the door and replacing it with a hanging cabinet. See Jon's sketch to the left.
Update July 26, 2012:  We eliminate the cabinet on the left but might move it over the toilet. Finally we just eliminated the cabinet.

Update October 29, 2012: The master bath is in place with the requisite drawers and doors.
The countertops and faucets are installed.
The vanity is painted.

Here it is all done.

My studio:
Update April 24, 2012: We have decided not to use this IKEA unit in my studio. Instead it will be used in the kitchen/art storage area.
The sink has moved to the far left of the long counter. We met with Alex August 27, 2012 to refine the design so that he could begin shop drawings.
Update: Lowers installed mid-December
Update December 20, 2012: Uppers installed.
The counters and sink are in.
Ready for painting.
Painted and ready for move-in.
Here it is all done.
Sitting room:
Bookshelves and TV area. We met with Alex August 27, 2012 to refine the design so that he could begin shop drawings.
Alex installed the sitting room bookshelves and cabinet.
The bookshelves are painted.
Here it is all done.
Kitchen/art/garden storage
Storage space, cupboards, drawers, shelves not yet developed. Remember to include the IKEA unit.  I have looked at Home Depot and Friedman's for some inexpensive cabinetry. Nothing appealed to me. It might be possible  to use some of the wire storage shelves used  in the back garage.
Drawing that Jon and I made of a possible configuration for the kitchen/art storage area.
John Petricka and Plaza Cabinetry made the cabinets when Alex's illness drastically slowed him down. I came home from Cuba to find them done and painted.
As you walk in the door, the refrigerator is in the right hand corner. The eight-foot tall cabinets are adjacent to it and continue down that wall.
The cabinets continue down the wall behind the IKEA unit and then turn the corner. The IKEA unit takes up a bit too much room in the space but is really handy with drawers and shelves.

The cabinets continue to the end of the wall on the left with room for Katherine's golf clubs.

Cottage
Multi-purpose room:
Update July 26, 2012: Bookshelves on either side of the bathroom door. I talked with Alex about bookshelves behind the sofa but these may not be possible given space constraints.
John Petricka and Plaza Cabinetry  made these shelves as Alex was seriously ill and unable to work for a while.
Here they are installed and painted.
And all moved in.
We are looking to purchase a media center for the multi-purpose room, such as the one from Pottery Barn.
Purchased from Pottery Barn, Printer's Large TV Stand/Glass Cabinet, Tuscan Chestnut Stain. It arrived partially assembled. Once we moved in, I finished the assembly.

Bathroom:
Update July 6, 2012: The refrigerator will move into the storage area and the vanity. The counter will run from the wall to the shower with drawers and cupboards for storing cups and bowls. See my rough sketch to the left.
We met with Alex August 27, 2012 to refine the design so that he could begin shop drawings. No fridge at this point.
Update: Vanity installed late October. The counter top, sink and faucets installed in November and December.
Painted.
Moved in.
There is a nice, fairly shallow, cupboard in the tiny toilet room adjacent to the vanity/shower area. It's hard to photograph but you'll get the idea. Here the doors are lying on the floor of the multi-purpose room.
The doors are hung.
And painted in Ten Gallon Hat. I used the same drawer pulls as on the bathroom vanity.
Katherine's office:
Katherine can't decide how she wants to configure this space until she can actually see it.
Katherine, Jon and Alex met July 20, 2012 to talk over her desk, bookshelves, cabinets.
Alex was able to build her desk area which consists of a u-shaped desk, two project boxes on facing walls, and a charging station. He installed the desk, here without the top, while I was in Cuba, February 2013. You can see the one set of project boxes on the right.
The desk painted. But the maple top not yet stained.
Finished and moved in. The top was lightly stained.
Here you can see Katherine's charging station with the knob underneath the project boxes, plus more storage shelves and a cupboard.
The project boxes painted.
The project boxes on the opposite wall.
These boxes painted.
It turned out that John Petricka and Plaza Cabinetry made the bookshelves as Alex took seriously ill and was unable to work.
Here they are painted.
And all moved in.
